The Mountains are calling...

Hello,

I am Meg.  A mother of 3, a teacher, and a self professed nerd.  I am constantly looking to improve my teaching and I hope to go back for my Masters in curriculum and instruction.  I love coffee and Diet Dr. Pepper, and I have long since believed it has become my life blood.  I love to experiment with curriculum and make material engaging and relevant to students lives today.  I love to be creative as I am making lessons.  I love being creative.  I also have two stories in my head that I need to work on getting out.  I want to build a brand for my education and as I develop my teaching.  I also want the ability to work through anything I learn teaching as well as figure out mom life.  

Looking for a change of pace, my family and I moved from Florida to Colorado.  The mountains are beautiful and the celebrating of actual seasons are amazing.  The snow has been interesting, though the weather in Colorado is funny because it never stays cold enough to were one would have to snow.  Its fun to watch fall and we deal with the beginnings of the snowfall and the wetness of the melted snow.  Hiking is a new hobby my family has discovered.  

Its beautiful out here and there seems to be so much space and you feel like you can inhale and breathe here.  and the glory of the mountain ranges beckon people outside.    We find ourselves answering the siren song of the outdoors, with our dogs.  Lexie and Odin enjoy being out with us, and our town is dog-friendly enough to have areas that provide water and doggy bags to clean up their messes.  We've been here for almost 9 months and I don't think I will ever grow tired of the sight of the mountains.  I miss my family back in Florida but I so enjoy it out here. 

Another thing I like is the teaching curriculum.  I find myself constantly comparing both systems I have been in, and find myself fitting into this system so much better.  I long to be a great teacher, and I think the atmosphere out here is better suited to my growth as a teacher. I plan to go back to school and get my Master's in the fall.  There is a difference in pay between a Master's and Bachelor's enough to make it worth while, but still I want the education that comes with it.  I plan to develop educational curriculum that engages the students.  I want to use the technology to keep the kids interested, especially since history (which is the subject I teach and have a passion for) isn't prone to the technology advances but might make it more interesting and valuable.  This pandemic has helped with my self teaching of different applications in technology, i.e. agenda slides, virtual classrooms, making the virtual classrooms interactive.  I cant wait till I am able to tweak and compile my own classroom assignments made from and including the technology I have learned.   The funny thing is I am a planner and doing this type of thing is fun and relaxing for me.  

My brand is to become a way for the educational materials and anything else I want.  I hope to spur it into a full time gig by the time I am ready to retire (which is in 20 years).  I dont think I will ever get tired of teaching, I enjoy that interaction with the students, and crave the relationships that are built and established within the classroom.  I only hope that  one day a student will remember being in my class, and say I had an impact on them.
